Prayer for the Conversion of a Sinful Parent

In normal circumstances, a parent guides and directs the conducts of her children, she sees to it that any of them who seems to be threading the wrong path is guided back to the path of morals. However, in the case of some, it is the other way round. Where a parent happens to be the one faltering and the child is left, struggling to draw his parents to sanity. If you are dealing with such, just offer up your parent _Be it your mother or father or both, to God.

It could be a case of a drunken or abusive father, an immoral mother or a neglectful parent, whatever case it be, offer him or her up to God who is the head of every parent and He will cause the heart of your mother or father to change. Make this prayer:

Loving Father God, I come to You today to lift up my father (mother) in prayer. Lord, You know better than anyone else how difficult and abusive he (she) was towards me and towards others as well. You know the suffering, pain and ridicule that I had to endure at his (her) hands, for so many years.

My hurt and anger towards him (her)is tinged with pity and sadness, because we were not able to have the sort of loving relationship that a child should have with his father (mother), and this is of great sadness to me. I know Lord, that in his (her) own way he (she) tried to do his (her)best, but he (she) was so eaten up with bitterness and anger that he was unable to express it in any other way.

Forgive my father I pray, and help me to forgive him (her)as well, truly to forgive him (her) and not to hold any resentment against him (her), for I know that is not only destructive to me but has ongoing repercussions with those I love.

Forgive my father (Mother) Lord and heal him (her), and I pray that one day he (she)may come to hear that Christ died to pay the price for his (her) own sins and rose again to break the power of death in the life of all that believe. I pray that my father (mother)would hear this and accept Jesus as his (her) Saviour. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, my Saviour and Lord, Amen”.
