7 Uplifting Prayers for When You Don’t Feel Good Enough

1. Pray for Confidence and to Find Your Value in God

Dear God,
We pray that you would remind us that we are a special treasure to you. We can walk confidently knowing that you have not just chosen us, but we are also treasured as one of your most prized possessions. How beautiful to know that while the world can choose us for a moment and throw us away the next, you choose us forever. You choose us despite our poor choices and decisions that go against your word. You choose us and value us with a view of us that will never change as you are the same yesterday, today and forever. We are good enough in your eyes and we thank you for such confidence. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

2. Pray for Courage to Let the Past Be the Past

Dear God,
At times, it’s hard for us to forgive ourselves and not label ourselves from a mistake of our past. The enemy wants to keep us held back in bondage to our past. But we thank you Lord, that when we chose to walk with you, we are a new creation. Your promises reign over any lies and we ask that you’d prompt us in those moments of shame to speak forgiveness over ourselves and over others that keep us in a place of not feeling good enough. You sent your son to die for us so that we didn’t have to live in a constant state of unworthiness. Thank you for that Lord. We choose today to not give the devil one more moment of satisfaction by dragging any of our past into our present. Give us the courage to do so, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

3. Pray for Worthiness from the Lord

Dear God,
Thank you for your promise that you spoke to your disciples as they are the same promises spoken to us. That we are worth more. We are worth more than the money in our bank account. We are worth more than the number of friends on Facebook. We are worth more than our successes and failures or our level of education. We are worth more than our accomplishments or lack of them. We are “worth more than many sparrows.” Oh Lord, help us to really get this. We pray that these words would sink deep into our hearts and we would begin to live our life from a place of worth. Remind us that no person or circumstance can ever take away our worth from you. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

4. Pray for Faith to Believe We’re Good Enough

Dear God,
Thank you for your promises in your word that we are good enough. Lord, help us increase our faith to believe you at your word as your word does not come back void. Give us the faith that even if we don’t feel good enough, pretty enough, worthy enough, forgiven enough, seen enough, loved enough, that we will live by a faith beyond our feelings. Remind us that even if we don’t feel good in any area, we can stand firm that you are in fact good. When the world is full of comparisons and reminds us of everything we are not, and everything we lack, give us a faith to believe in your truth above all else. Your word is the only truth we should compare ourselves to. Help us to not just know your truth but live it out in faith in our daily walk. We love you Lord and are forever grateful that we are the exact amount of ‘good enough’ in our Father’s eyes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

5. Pray for Reassurance of God’s Endless Chase for You

Dear God,
We thank you by reading your Word, we get glimpses of you and your love for us. Thank you for the story of the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4. The story where you sought out a woman that wasn’t good enough in her town of Samaria and shunned from society because she had been married multiple times. A woman who had felt abused, misused, and forgotten – not good enough. Yet, you Lord, spoke to this woman without a hint of condemnation or judgment. You went out of your way on your journey to seek this one woman out to reassure her she was good enough just as she was. You will go to great lengths to chase after us in the same way you did her. This was a woman who felt worthless, but you made sure she knew she was highly esteemed and highly pursued. We thank you that you go out of your way to lift us out of the well of worthlessness and onto a hill of unbelievable worth. Thank you, Lord, for your love like no other. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

6. Pray for Purpose in Our Unique Story

Dear God,
As we begin to take steps in our worth in you knowing we are good enough, we ask that you give us direction in our unique purpose. We ask that you remind us that because we are your workmanship as you made us with your very own Hands, that we do have a purpose – our very own hand-made story. Show us the way, leading us in the truth of your Word so we may walk in our purpose that you’ve designed specifically for us. Thank you that you have already gone before us, you’ll be with us, and you’ll go behind us as we stay close to you as our greatest leader. We thank you for the gift and power of the Holy Spirit to guide us each step of the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

7. Pray for Security in God’s Promises

Dear God,
Your word says that when we fear you, we receive a strong security and safety in you. What a beautiful promise! Thank you Lord, that we can find confidence in your promises when we are not feeling good enough. It’s easy for us to live insecure in the world we live in. But thankfully, we serve a secure God. While the world is shaky, you are unshakeable. Remind us to lean on you as our rock as you truly are the only source of stability when everything around us is falling. Prompt us to turn to you when we are not feeling good enough, rather than false securities that disappoint us. Thank you for the safety you offer us in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
