Prayer of a Sinner Before Baby Jesus

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:23). We are all sinners. Even in our struggle against sin, we often find ourselves falling again and again. But one thing is for sure; God’s mercy never ceases to flow because He knows and understands the weakness of our flesh. “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin” (Heb 4:15).

He is a loving Father who never condemns us but awaits everyone of us with outstretched hands whenever we go astray.

As you acknowledge your sins, you should feel deeply contrite and remorseful for them. The season of Christmas is a good time to retrace your steps by seeking Christ’s forgiveness. This prayer is coined from the book of Psalm 51:2-4, 25:6-8 and the Litany to the infant Jesus:

“Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.

Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge”
