It is nearly impossible find a place on this earth where problems are not encountered by people staying there; economic problems, health crisis, natural disasters, terrorist invasion, moral decadence, one way or the other, a nation’s peace is threatened. You watch your loved ones lose their lives or you leave with the constant fear that each day that comes could be your last, especially with the Russia and Ukraine war going on at present. You watch your loved ones slip away and you feel like you’re all alone in this world.
But you are not! God, who is alive, who fought for His people Israel, who stood for Portugal in the time of war (date), who fought for……. Is with you! He has not abandoned you and never will. This prayer to St. Joseph is one of the most powerful prayers as it calls on St. Joseph to guide you towards safety. St. Joseph is invoked for protection against sudden death and evil. This prayer was sent by the Pope in 1505 to Emperor Charles when he was going into battle. Bow your head and say this prayer:
“O St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires. O St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that, having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of fathers.
O St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen”.
Then, conclude with prayer to St. Michael, God’s Archangel who is our defender in times of difficulties:
“St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen”.
