Many times, when it comes to offering prayers for people, we remember the sick, the poor, the sinners, the hungry, the suffering and the dying. However, we often forget to pray for doctors and nurses. We forget that these people need our support also, they need God’s grace to carry out their duties effectively and successfully. Whenever we ask God for healing, He often heals us through them. Not to forget also, that they are usually at the forefront of any national or global battle health wise, striving to combat threats to our human health. This has been evident in the present global situation since the pandemic struck the world. They have been hit more than any other group of professionals. Let us in togetherness, offer up this prayer to God for them:
“O merciful Father, who have wonderfully fashioned man in your own image, and have made his body to be a temple of the Holy Spirit, sanctify, we pray you, our doctors and nurses and all those whom you have called to study and practice the arts of healing the sick and the prevention of disease and pain. Strengthen them in body and soul, and bless their work, that they may give comfort to those for whose salvation your Son became Man, lived on this earth, healed the sick, and suffered and died on the Cross. Amen.”
As we have made this prayer, let us also remember to constantly pray for doctors and nurses because they are as dependent on us for support as we are dependent on them for healing.
